Yoshinogari Keitai-Guide
The ceremonial hall is the building at the heart of the Northern Inner Enclosure. As a result of excavations, it became clear that it had 16 pillars and a more or less square layout. The holes for the pillars are very large and deep, which means it must have been a tall building. Remains of this kind suggest it was a tower, that is to say a multi-story building. It was restored by referring to various materials such as pictures of multi-story buildings depicted on artifacts unearthed from Karako-Kagi ruins in Nara prefecture, Iegata haniwa figures of the Tumulus period, and pictures of ancient Chinese buildings. It is likely that this is where the Yoshinogari kingdom’s most important religious rituals were performed.
