Residence for Market Custodians , Market Chief’s Residence

Judging by the everyday objects such as earthenware excavated from the pit dwellings in the middle of the structures surrounding the market tower thought to be in the middle of the market, it is thought these dwellings were used as residences. The Gishiwajinden tells that there were officials whose job was to inspect markets. It is thought likely that such officials also existed in the Yayoi kingdom. The pit dwelling in the center of the market is assumed to be the residence of the custodian of the market, or market chief.
