Yoshinogari Keitai-Guide
It is thought that the people living in the central village were engaged in various different tasks connected with the religious rituals conducted in the Northern Inner Enclosure. Among the six pit dwellings excavated in the central village, three of these on the northern side are large, and it was assumed that they were workshops where implements required for religious ceremonies were produced. Various types of ritual objects were required, such as containers for the offerings at religious ceremonies and the tables on which these containers were placed. These pit dwellings are assumed to be where such ritual objects were produced.
