Yoshinogari Keitai-Guide
The bones of more than 300 people have been excavated from the burial jar tomb. Some of these skeletons were found with no heads and there were ten with arrow heads embedded in them. They are thought to be victims of war. In addition, personal ornaments such as shell bracelets, comma-shaped jewelry and cylindrical jewelry, as well as various burial accessories such as iron weapons and silk goods were discovered. The presence among bracelets of large shells from the coral reefs stretching from Amami Ooshima to Okinawa, is evidence that there were exchanges with the far-off southern island region. It is also evident that the silk goods show different styles of weaving, some of an exceptionally high level, and that some have been colored using dyes such as the shellfish-derived purple madder.
