Yoshinogari Keitai-Guide
This building is laid out so that the central axis is parallel to the line connecting sunrise at the summer solstice and sunset at the winter solstice. In addition, it is situated between the ceremonial hall and the raised dwelling where the high priest is thought to have lived. This suggests that the building is connected with religious rituals. Judging from examples from ancient China, it is assumed to be where the high priest purified his mind and body on the occasion of religious ceremonies, and where implements used in religious ceremonies were kept.
