Yoshinogari Keitai-Guide
It is thought that the Southern Inner Enclosure was the living area for the governing class who took on the role of administering the kingdom as ministers and aides in the areas of religious ritual, military affairs, external relations and legal affairs. The structure located in the northwestern part of the Southern Inner Enclosure is assumed to be the residence of a member of the governing class as it is located in the north and is thus a superior place according to the concept of space of the Yoshinogari moat-enclosed settlement. It might have been the residence of the controller of external relations, someone with a great deal of political power.
