Yoshinogari Keitai-Guide
This doll’s hairstyle, known as “mizura,” is seen on haniwa human figures from the Tumulus period. In the Yoshinogari ruins, hair tied up in a bundle was found above the ear of a skull excavated from a burial jar. Analysis has revealed that this hair comes from an adult male, and the shape shows it was a “mizura” style. This discovery was the first indication that “mizura” was also a hairstyle for adult males in the Yayoi period.
