Yoshinogari Keitai-Guide
Ancient Chinese markets had market storehouses to store the materials that were bought and sold at the market. The markets of the Yayoi kingdom probably also had market storehouses. The relatively small raised structures grouped on the southern side of the market tower in the center are assumed to be the market storehouses. These small four-pillared structures were storage areas for foodstuff such as salt and rice that was gathered at the market for the purpose of exchange.
